    Filtering at lights is for a bike to get up near the front is safer for the rider. The rider cant do this at speed but when traffic is banked up and the bike can trval slowly through. Its safer to do this than just stop behind a vehicle and if a car or truck driver isnt paying attention then the bike rider will be hit from behind. I can tell you it ain't great being hit from behind on a bike.

    • @guccigasbag2780

      Yes 🙌 exactly! We are from Queensland while my daughter is on her L’s she can do the legal signed posted speed limit that says 100km or 110km, she doesn’t have to do 90 km limited to L or red P platers on freeways like everyone that holds a learner or provisional licence from New South Wales. Even in NSW she can drive to the posted speed limit on her L’s I think it’s wrong forcing L and P platers to drive to a different limit to everyone else. Glad I don’t live in Sydney anymore.

    I'm Aussie and the same rarely use apps Even use cash and hard copy licence You have options at the moment But are trying to change but still enough politicians against it So it's up to individual and cops now just pull it up on their screens Have your photo as well because all licences are photo Id The younger one's love everything on them even use phone to pay for meals take away It's why they loose their mines if can't find phone has everything on it even do tax on them We call it petrol after petroleum gas is different and all gas house or vechile has additives to make it smell This way you know if it's leaking before explosion hopefully We have heaps of rounder abouts as speed humps hinder emergency vechiles to much like fire trucks ambulance I ride a bike never herd filter but guessing riding between stopped vechiles at traffic lights The L plate has to have a licence driver next to them before able to drive and do a log book with so many hours and need to be signed off then a couple with registered trainer and then can do a test drive to pass costs around $1000 to do this As for p plates differences are speed restrictions how many in vechile and night time curfews like have to be off the road by a certain time unless it's for work then get exemption but only to drive to and from work if caught outside that loose licence It takes a year before you can move to the next level as you progress night curfew no longer and still limited on how many in vechile at night also no alcohol or drugs under any of them instant loss of licence unlike when on full licence. 05 our limit and must be under you blow .05 you get arrested for drink driving and every cop car has hand held breatherliser unit and drug test kits as well they have RBT random Breath Testing that travel around they pull over banks of traffic up to 10 cars at a time and test the drivers They stay their a couple hrs then move to another spot so you never know where they are and always at major events like football concerts ect They surround the streets and get people leaving It instant lose of licence and big fine depending on how high they'll impound vechile until see judge Then you pay for the tow and storage which if high maditory 28 days and many thousands to get vechile back They did studies when new drivers have accidents and why the multiple stages of licence and why restrictions as these are high risks for new driver's Cheers 🦘🇦🇺👍

      I taught both my kids to drive (NSW). The only cost (aside from petrol) was for doing the test, $65. Both of them failed the first try. So $130 each to get licenced. Just remembered there was some sort of safety course that cost $80, last for 3 hours but counts for 10 hours on the log book. So, $210 each.

      @@sigmaoctantis1892 yeah you can do only so many hrs here with licence driver then a certain ammount with registered instructors I taught two of my nieces before they had to get instructors and by the time they'd finished cost around $1000 is what they told me They actually like me as teacher they couldn't do it with their parents used to get in fights I could pick up where they where going wrong and advise them calmly and we talk through it as I exsplain or asked them a question No yelling or screaming and they could relax listern Only once I had to grab the wheel and never got upset and she didn't want to drive anymore Got her to pull over we had a talk with encouragement she drove some more that day a didn't freak out when truck pulled out of corner again She couldn't keep car in straight line and I worked out why when I ask her where she was looking I told to look up the road about two poles She said I won't be able to stay in lines and didn't want to I replied try it your not staying in the lines now so nothing to loose trying she did and never crossed the line's again So I'm guessing training time with instructors in my state are for longer period of time Also these instructors do the testing and pass them but at anytime a government instructor can show up and go with them This way instructors need to make sure they're teaching them properly otherwise they can loose their credentials to teach

The rangers car was burning rubber, dust and pebbles flying. it came to a sudden halt near our camp, the ranger roared from the cab . YOU CANT LIGHT A FIRE HERE. roundabouts, was first done in uk, then was copied in europe (france has the biggest until late 90s arc de triumph), since aus is a colony we automatically adopted since the 40s.... but brits and rest of the world did not utilise the roundabouts (only recently that they became more, the same with USA (they recently just had them as an urban standard planning, america had very few them (but started adopting more after the 2000s, in the 60s, was the said san francisco hill streets were being the first trials and got adopted but not as utilise)..... aus have more them (since back in the 60s when they became numerous even up to now) because politicians in aus became obsess with roundabouts (an easy way of making money on the sly for their family or friends tendering, as it was easy approval under the radar of public audit, being cheap and easy to keep constructing them, and they keep re-doing (demolish put new of same thing)), so any chance they get they will.... also back then aus was very resistant of putting traffic lights expenses and use the excuse of road authority studies of actual physical hurdles are more effective in safetiness to trafficking decision discipline than maintaining electricity cost of traffic lights .... the thing in aus is there's public opinion of reducing them because there's far too many and impractical in some cases, and the need of actual traffic lights due to cases of more thicker traffic which are the limitation of roundabouts.....

    G'day Tonia, regarding the electronic drivers license, you are 100% correct, these electronic licenses give more control to the Government, which will invariably lead to a social credit score system just like China, 15 minute cities and such, this is why they introduced Electric vehicles, so you can only drive around your 15 minute area before a recharge, next will come digital passports and central banking digital system, so if you do not comply they can shut your banking down, did you know they are currently making new vehicles that have electronics that Gov's can shut down your vehicle by GPS, and by the way they say go green with these EV's do you know many children are in slave labor in Africa mining the cobalt for the EV battery's, 10 year old kids are dying down in those mines, same as the wind turbines, each one of those has a life span of approx 20 years, each one of these comprises 90 gallons of oil to keep turbine spinning and when their life span has ephemerally depleted, they cannot be broken down for land waste. Something for you to ponder, keep up the good work Cheers.

NZ and Aussies are very similar but also somewhat ironically very different, particularly in regards to the indigenous cultures, Polynesian specifically maori in NZ and aboriginal in Australia. Aussie is statistically the hottest inhabited country on earth and 85% desert. NZ has a temperate climate and is one of the most geographically diverse countries on the planet. You can literally go from the beach to skiing in about 1. 5 hrs. There's also no native predators besides sharks and only two species of indigenous mammals, bats . I'm with you about the apps, I'll only have a physical one. I've seen plenty of Chevies here, from old 1920's models to the newest Cameros and Corvettes. The Holden Monaro was marketed in the States in the early 2000's as a Chevy, even gaining a spot in the PC game 'Need For Speed' at the time. BTW Helmets are also compulsory for pushbikes here and have been since 1991. I think what she should of said, traffic laws and infrastructure is more uniform in Australia then America, where one county might have different infrastructure and slightly different minor laws to the next county. Filtering means two cars stopped side by side at traffic lights and a motor cycle slips down in between them to wait for change of lights.

      Thank you! Yeah it seems like the differences are pretty minor. But definitely something that like an American like me going there might get confused lol.

    To clarify regarding the digital licence in NSW where she lives, it's not mandatory. You still have a physical licence card (that's the mandatory bit) however you can opt to have a digital one in addition too, and it is officially recognised by the state police, pubs, clubs etc if you leave your card at home. But the catch is that these are not accepted in every state. There are other significant US/Australia differences she didn't cover: we don't have 4 way stops (thank god!) where everyone is trying to figure out who got there first. Also you *cannot* turn left on red unless there is a sign saying you can, and these are uncommon unless the intersection has a left turn slip/merge lane.

    • @ToniaElkins
      @ToniaElkins 2 дні тому

      Thank you for clarifying. 😊 The 4 way stop thing here isn’t too confusing actually. Cuz most of the time you don’t have 4 cars there at the same time, unless you’re in a bigger city. But you just naturally learn to watch each street and whoever stops first goes first and if you stop at the same time the person to your right goes first.. idk it’s a whole thing. But honestly in my city which is approximately 150,000 people we don’t usually have any issues with it. We have a very small town feel and just wave to let the others go first 😆

    I’ve had to adjust to driving on the opposite side to what I’m used to visiting other countries. It takes a little getting used to. The indicator switch and the wiper switch are on opposite sides and also getting in the passenger side of the car instead of the driver side I’ve done that a few times and can be a bit confusing on roundabouts for the first time.

    The P plates stand for Provisional driver's license. Apart from the speed restrictions, a driver on a provisional license cannot drive with any alcohol or illicit drugs in their blood. And the police routinely set up traffic stops, and pull over vehicles at random and test the drivers for alcohol and drugs. You can be breath tested for alcohol, and a saliva swab tested for drugs. Penalties are significant.

    Filtering is when bikes drive between the Cars at the red lights. It puts the bike at the front and usually they can ride off quicker when the lights go green.
